Secretarial Competition

1. The secretarial competition is a national standard competition. 

2. The competition is conducted offline at Batam State Polytechnic Campus. 

3. Participants wear complete work clothes:

• For women: Clothes, shoes, a bag, and make-up.

• For Men: Customized or standard office attire with no earrings.

4. Participants create a Scientific Paper related to the field of competition written in Standard Indonesian, accompanied by a summary (not an abstract) written in English with the theme:

"The Role of Secretaries in the Digital Age and the Use of Technology to Increase Work Productivity" 

5. Scientific papers have been sent via Email: ibac@polibatam.ac.id no later than 1 week before the competition is held.

7. The competition consists of 2 rounds; Preliminary and Final. 

8. The Preliminary Round will select 10 participants with the highest scores to proceed to the Final Round. 

9. Preliminary Round 

• Completion of administration according to the specified requirements  

• Written work along with a summary in English

• Written academic test 

• Competency test/practice

• Interview 

10. Final Round

• Presentation in English of the written work that has been prepared. 

• Q&A with the judges

• Performance 

1.  Abstract: Written in English, line spacing 1 space maximum of 300 words accompanied by keywords. 

2.  CHAPTER I is an introduction that consists of the Background of the problem, the Purpose of Writing, Limitations of Writing, and the Benefits of writing.

3.  CHAPTER II is a chapter on theoretical foundations used for problem-solving. 

4.  The theory used as a reference in Chapter II is sourced from articles in scientific journals or credible books (not from blogspot, Wikipedia, or others). 

5.  CHAPTER III is a chapter on the methodology used in writing. This chapter describes the writing method, data collection techniques, data processing techniques, and data analysis techniques. 

6.  CHAPTER IV is the Results and Discussion chapter. 

7.  CHAPTER V is the closing chapter which consists of conclusions and suggestions. 

8.  Bibliography (web resources, blogspot, and wikipedia are not allowed). Writing the bibliography uses APA Style Sixth Edition. 

9.  Right margin (3 cm), top margin (3 cm), bottom margin (3 cm), and left margin (4 cm). An Arial typeface with size 12, and a line spacing of 1.5 spaces. 

10. Total pages 8-12, including bibliography.

11. The article must be original and free from plagiarism which will be proven by using the application by the judge (Turnitin, Ithenticate, or Plagiarism Checker) -30%. 

The selection of champions refers to the individual performance of students who meet the assessment criteria:

1. In the preliminary round, the elements assessed include scientific presentations, English language skills, written tests, competency tests, and personality. Each assessment score is as follows:

• Scientific work (15%)

• Academic/written test (10%) (general and office knowledge). 

• Competency / practical test (English, Secretarial, Archives, Finance, etc.) (75%) for 5 hours. The practical test consists of the components: Filing (20%), Correspondence (15%), Itinerary (15%), and Telephone Handling (10%), Petty Cash (15%).

2. In the final round, the elements assessed include presentation skills in English, accuracy in answering questions related to understanding the content of the material presented, and appearance.  Each assessment score is as follows:

• Presentation ability (40%)

• Accuracy in answering questions (50%)

• Appearance (10%).

The final assessment is obtained from the total score of the preliminary round (80%) plus the final round (20%).

The Additional Category Winner is the contestant who achieves the highest score after the Main Category  Winner.
